The rapid expansion at Roma Finance, the bridging and development lender, continues apace and will continue to do so, says Tracey Martin.

She is the head of sales at the company and has been speaking as Roma Finance moved to take its services north of the border as it launched into Scotland. The intention is to offer introducers its bridging finance products and fast-track completion service. Martin says the company now has extensive sales and underwriting teams in place to cope with the expected growth in business.

With rapidly growing business levels and a recently reported doubling of its sales and underwriting teams, Roma Finance now have the talent and resources to continue their expansion and it is felt that the time is right to offer their bridging solutions in Scotland.

One key appointment has already been made and there will be several notable arrivals to follow, In the meantime, George Tuffin, who is a bridging specialist, has been chosen to head up the Scottish territory and in due course Roma Finance will be recruiting further sales staff to support this market as their expansion continues.

Roma’s criteria cater for a wide range of property customer, including landlords and property professionals looking to acquire property for renovation and refurbishment. Residential investment property, semi-commercial units and commercial buildings are all covered by Roma Finance’s flexible lending solutions and the same excellent products will be available in Scotland. The company says it will also offer the same high service levels with most cases completing within 15 days. Martin explained:

“We see this launch into Scotland as a viable opportunity for the extension of our services. We now have extensive sales and underwriting teams in place, allowing us to continue to expand and we are all very confident of its success.”

The expansion comes as no surprise to industry insiders. Only last month, Roma Finance doubled its BDM and underwriting teams with a crop of new appointments.

The lender says the recruitment was in response to a significant increase in lending levels this year. New appointments included Tom Hill, Sohail Akram and Will Sterio, as business development managers.

Hill boasts seven years’ experience as a bridging and commercial packager, and joins from Y3S, where he was head of bridging finance. Meanwhile, Akram has worked in the finance and banking sector for over 10 years, including positions at NatWest and HSBC. And Sterio has worked for seven years in the banking and peer-to-peer lending sector. In addition, Rachel Pollock has joined Tuffin at the company as a bridging specialist.

There has also been Internal promotions and these have seen Simon Micklethwaite becoming a senior BDM and Daniel Hill has been promoted to divisional sales manager.

Roma Finance says it has seen an 80 per cent increase in lending in the first half of 2018 and has introduced new systems to process this volume of business. Martin added:

“These appointments put the business in a good position to move forward with new products and sales initiatives.”
